Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs
Proverbs 26:6 He that sendeth a message by the hand of a fool cutteth off the feet, and drinketh damage. 7 The legs of the lame are not equal: so is a parable in the mouth of fools. 8 As he that bindeth a stone in a sling, so is he that giveth honour to a fool. 9 As a thorn goeth up into the hand of a drunkard, so is a parable in the mouth of fools.
The message is the same through these four verses. Sending a message or parable by the mouth of a fool brings dishonour. The message is lost or damaged in the hand or mouth of a fool.
What is a fool? Who is a fool? Are you a fool?
Psalm 53:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.
There are many ways to say no to God. One may say no, in salvation trusting in their merit, their religious works to save them. They reject God and His plan trusting in their prayer or baptism, or rosary, or confession, or a host of other things rather than turning from sin and self and turning to Jesus. One can say no to God thinking God loves everyone and allows everyone into heaven regardless of their sinful state rejecting true repentance. They can say no in their daily life rejecting God’s word for personal living. God says that person is a fool.
God says, that person has no understanding of the things of God; to send a godly message by a person who has no understanding of the things of God is sending a message or parable or giving honour to a fool.
Sending a message or a parable by the mouth of a fool is like having a broken foot or lame legs, it is like binding a stone in a sling. You don’t bind stones in slings, you loosely set them in the sling so they can freely be released when the sling is employed. To bind a stone in a sling is to leave oneself defenceless. It’s like having thorn in the hand, it festers and becomes irritating and the hand becomes useless, so is the godly message sent by the fool.
To send a godly message by the hand of the unsaved is to send a message with no wisdom nor understanding for the fool does not know God nor the things of God. They are corrupt and abominable and filled with only man’s wisdom.
Psalm 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
1Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
However, sending a godly message by way of the genuine believer is to send a message of solid, stable, honourable truth.
Titus 1:15 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. 16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
Ephesians 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
We love all and desire all to be saved in Christ Jesus. That can only happen when the pure message of God’s word is given.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
The choice is still yours,
