Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs
Proverbs 26:12 Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? there is more hope of a fool than of him.
The more one learns of the Lord the more one realizes they know little about the Lord.
Isaiah 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Job tells us about the Lord: Job 9:4 He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who hath hardened himself against him, and hath prospered? 5 Which removeth the mountains, and they know not: which overturneth them in his anger. 6 Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble. 7 Which commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars. 8 Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea. 9 Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south. 10 Which doeth great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number.
Now, here is what God says: Proverbs 26:12 Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? there is more hope of a fool than of him.
A man who is arrogant, and self - assuming and thinks himself to be superior than to receive instruction is beyond help and is worse than a fool. This person is hopeless.
A fool may be easier to convince with truth than the egotist who believes he knows it all when in fact he does not. The person who is wise in his own conceit is unteachable and is convinced of his own knowledge and loves his own ways.
Would all men give into reason with the Lord, would all men listen putting self aside?
Isaiah 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
Would you take the time to reason with God through His word or would you be like those who turning from God make yourself or chose for yourself idolatry?
Here is what the Lord says about idols and those who choose them. Isaiah 41:21 Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob. 22 Let them bring them forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come. 23 Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together. 24 Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination is he that chooseth you.
Those who choose idolatry are, according to the word of God, an abomination. God said that. You can be an idol unto yourself, and that my friend is the one who is wise in his own conceit.
Proverbs 26:12 Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? there is more hope of a fool than of him.
Jesus has the answer clear.
Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
The choice is still yours,
