Morning Devotion: Read Exodus
Exodus 4:10 And Moses said unto the LORD, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue. 11 And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD? 12 Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say. 13 And he said, O my Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send. 14 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart. 15 And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do. 16 And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, even he shall be to thee instead of a mouth, and thou shalt be to him instead of God. 17 And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs.
We all have inadequacies and second thoughts that sometimes cause us to be unfaithful for the Lord. Sometimes we just don’t think we can do the task God gives us. Moses was no different.
He thought He was not eloquent and slow of speech and tongue. In other words he thought he simply could not think nor speak well enough to be a part of God’s plan.
Let me remind you, Moses was a very astute person; he was well learned and well educated. Moses was very intelligent; Moses wrote the first five books of your bible. That, my friend says something about Moses.
Although Moses was all the above things, he was also very meek.
Numbers 12:3 (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.)
God gave Moses assurance that He would be there for him as Moses represented God before Pharaoh.
Exodus 4:12 Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.
Then Moses, unwilling to let go of his self imposed inhibitions, asked the Lord send someone else.
Numbers 4:13 And he said, O my Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send.
God sent Aaron Moses’ brother to help him. As we read further, we will find that Moses’ excuses brought big trouble, for Aaron was instrumental in bringing idol worship into the lives of the Israelites. It is an idol worship they embrace even today.
God has a perfect will for everyone today; God wants everyone to be saved. However, many will make excuses: “I am not worthy”, or “I chose my religion rather than Christianity”, or “I can save myself.”
Christians will do the same thing when it comes to serving God. “I can’t go soul winning, I don’t know what to say about Jesus.” Some will make excuses about church, “Oh it’s inconvenient I have something else to do.” Or. “God don’t want me in church, I’m too evil or I’m too dirty to be in a church.”
Excuses, excuses, you hear them every day, why, the devil, he’ll provide them if from church you’ll stay away. Excuses, excuses, you’ hear them every day, why, the devil, he’ll provide them if from God’s will you’ll turn away.
My friend don’t make excuses, especially when it comes to the saving of your soul. God is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. God wants to save you.
Christian, let God use you the way you are.
The choice is still yours,
