Morning Devotion: Read Exodus

Exodus 4:18  And Moses went and returned to Jethro his father in law, and said unto him, Let me go, I pray thee, and return unto my brethren which are in Egypt, and see whether they be yet alive. And Jethro said to Moses, Go in peace. 19  And the LORD said unto Moses in Midian, Go, return into Egypt: for all the men are dead which sought thy life. 20  And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand. 21  And the LORD said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, see that thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in thine hand: but I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go. 22  And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn: 23  And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.

How would you like to set out on a mission knowing it will not be easy, knowing it will entail hardships along the way?

Moses was chosen of God to be the leader of all Israel bringing them from hard bondage in Egypt to a land flowing with milk and honey in Canaan.

Moses was to go in the power of God and with the wonders of God before the presence of Pharaoh.

Here is the problem, God said He would harden Pharaoh’s heart. Verse 21: “but I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go.”

GOD WOULD HARDEN PHARAOH’S HEART?????

Moses was going before the presence of the King of Egypt knowing God was going to harden his heart, knowing there would be trouble. WHAT?

Let me help the true believer, the person who lives and talks about Christ; this world rejects God and the Lord Jesus Christ. Most of the people in this world have no idea what it means to be born-again. Most reject God and the things of God embracing some type of religion just as the Egyptians.

However, God sends His children out to tell others all about Jesus, knowing that many will not listen.

Matthew 10:16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

The Lord gave us an example of how He sent his prophets into the world and the world rejected them.

Luke 20:9  Then began he to speak to the people this parable; A certain man planted a vineyard, and let it forth to husbandmen, and went into a far country for a long time. 10  And at the season he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and sent him away empty. 11  And again he sent another servant: and they beat him also, and entreated him shamefully, and sent him away empty. 12  And again he sent a third: and they wounded him also, and cast him out.

Just as God commanded Moses to  “Go, return into Egypt” so He commands us as believers to go as well.

Mark 16:15  And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Matthew 28:18  And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

As God was with Moses so God is with His children as they go and tell about Jesus. The going may be hard, but Jesus is there with you.

Christian, are you going?

Sinner, will you listen or will your heart be hardened?

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
