Morning Devotion: Read Luke -

Luke 24:44  And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. 45  Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, 46  And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: 47  And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48  And ye are witnesses of these things. 49  And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

Jesus, while appearing before His disciples, after His resurrection, instructs them once again.

Our Lord Jesus Christ, once again reveals a great truth. He lets His disciples know that God’s word, from the first five books that Moses wrote to the prophets to Psalms all write about Jesus. Any where you look in the bible Jesus is there.

Jesus once again opens their understanding of the scriptures concerning Himself. Luke 24:46  And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

Many times in the New Testament the bible records the fact that Jesus died, was buried and ROSE AGAIN THE THIRD DAY.

Matthew 12:40, 16:21, 17:23, 20:19, 27:64; Mark 8:31, 9:31, 10:34; 14:58 Luke 9:22, 13:32, 18:33, 24:7, 24:21 and our text. It is also recorded in John 2:19, and 20; Acts 10:40; I Corinthians 15:4.

If God said it this many times don’t you think people would hear and know and believe it to be true? Alas, people still celebrate Good Friday, rather than follow truth. Good Friday was established by tradition not from God’s word.

Mark 7:9  And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

We also see the Lord giving the disciples purpose. Luke 24:47  And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48  And ye are witnesses of these things. 49  And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

They were to go to Jerusalem and wait for the promise of the Father and then they were to go out and tell the world, everybody, about what they had seen. They saw Jesus, they handled Jesus, they saw His resurrection, they saw life.

John 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

1John 1:1  That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; 2  (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) 3  That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. 4  And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.

We, as believers, are to go and tell the world about Jesus.

My friend, do you know Jesus?

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
