Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs

Proverbs 24:10  If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.

Trials or adversities in life are often the catalyst that brings forth the true man. The man who faints in adversity has already shown himself.

The trial or adversities in your life may very well be there to strengthen you and  make you a better person in Christ Jesus. If you faint before the conclusion of your trial you may never experience the true grace of God. Finish the course and see God work.

1 Peter 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

Trials originate from different sources. You may bring trials upon yourself by making wrong decisions or from others who are involved in your life whether good or bad. Trials, for the believer may come from God to conform you to the image of Christ.

James 1:2  My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3  Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4  But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Romans 5:3  And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; 4  And patience, experience; and experience, hope: 5  And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

In James 1:2 and in Romans 5:3 we see something different when trials are viewed though the lens of God’s will and His word. Believers count trials or temptations or adversities joyfully or they glory in trials or tribulations. Why? Because those trials and tribulations and temptations bring forth a better person.

Job 23:10  But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.

God’s ultimate plan for you life is that you be gloriously changed for the glory of God.

Romans 8:28  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 29  For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30  Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

Instead of fainting and failing, be like Jesus and like Paul the Apostle.

2Corinthians 12:9  And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Hebrews 12:2  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Proverbs 24:10  If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.

As a believer, when in a trial, you may want to ask God how you can glorify Him in it.

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
