Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs

Proverbs 24:11  If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain; 12  If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?

The bible gives us a picture of the redemption of the slave off the slave block harnessed by the devil himself. Jesus is the great redeemer.

Romans 6:16  Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? 17  But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. 18  Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

All who are born are born to sin and, consequently, born to die need deliverance. All men are slaves to sin.

Romans 5:12  Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Knowing this truth, that all men are sinners and in need of deliverance; we as believers have the responsibility to go to the lost and dying world to share with them the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Millions, even billions are drawn to death and are ready to be slain. We must not turn our ears and eyes away.

Jesus gives us the command to go.

Mark 16:15  And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

John 20:21  Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.

Probably, the reason many do not go is because the compassion is missing. Hearing of the cry of the lost, (though not audible and has been replaced by worldly pleasures), must be heard by the true believer.

Jude 1:21  Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. 22  And of some have compassion, making a difference: 23  And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

The final thought is that we might sow the truth and come again rejoicing over that one soul who has been delivered.

Psalm 126:5  They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. 6  He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

Would you go and tell someone of the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ?

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
