Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs

Proverbs 18:10  The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

Psalm 9:10  And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

Do you know Him; do you know the name of Jesus?

We are not talking about knowing the name of the Lord as one knows the name of someone in the resent news or some sports icon or movie actor. We are talking about having a personal relationship with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Do you know Him; do you know the name of the LORD?

Do you know the LORD in such a way as to trust Him no matter what? Do you know Him as a strong tower. Do you know Him well enough to know He is your safe place?

Psalms 18:2  The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

Knowing the name of the LORD is much different than just knowing about the LORD. Many people know about the LORD. Even the devil knows about the LORD but he does not trust in the LORD.

James 2:19  Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

Knowing about someone and truly knowing someone is as the difference between night and day.

Many Christians have trusted Jesus to save them but have never trusted Jesus protect and guide and give them the safety they need for living their daily life. They have trusted Him to give them eternal life, but they do not trust Him for daily living. They do not know Him well enough to run to Him and be safe.

I believe David explains it best when he wrote Psalm 23.

Psalm 23:1  A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2  He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3  He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4  Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5  Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Have you learned to run to the LORD our strong tower and be safe? Do you know Him that well?

Proverbs 18:10  The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

Psalm 9:10  And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

Let me encourage you, as a born again believer, learn to run to the LORD your strong tower and be safe.

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
