Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs
Proverbs 19:20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end. 21 There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand. 22 The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar.
There is safety in good counsel and good instruction because it brings wisdom to the obedient hearer. While there are many devices or schemes or stratagems in ones heart, the counsel of the Lord will ultimately stand over them all.
Over and above all devices, stratagems and schemes is the man whose desire reveals his kindness. That word desire is not the desire of the will of a man to accomplish, control or posses. The word desire in verse 22 means the good character of a man; the good character of a man is his kindness. Are you a kind person?
Are you a kind person or are you a grouch, negative and harsh, in your dealings with others? Are you unkind?
God has given the born again believer, through His divine power, the ability to exercise kindness. It is one of the confirmations of our salvation.
2Peter 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. 8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Take time to hear the counsel of the Lord, receive instruction, and be wise in your deportment. It will reveal a kindness that this world needs.

Colossians 3:12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; 13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. 14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
