Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs

Proverbs 22:11  He that loveth pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend.

A righteous king, not a wicked King, a righteous king loves the gracious words that come from a pure heart.

Proverbs 15:26  The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD: but the words of the pure are pleasant words.

The pure in heart is the person who can see beyond the normal and see God.

Matthew 5:8  Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

It is that person who loves the pureness of heart. They love the purity of all that is pure. The pure person thinks pure thoughts, loves pure things and lives in purity.

Philippians 4:8  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

The Apostle Paul writes to Timothy and exhorts him to be an example in purity.

1Timothy 4:12  Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

Are you an example of purity?

To live the purified life, one must first be born again, saved by the very blood of Jesus Christ. It is impossible to be pure and to live in purity without being purified in Christ Jesus. You simply cannot live such a life.

1Peter 1:18  Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19  But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: 20  Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, 21  Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. 22  Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: 23  Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

Are you pure? Are you living pure?

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
