Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs
Proverbs 22:4 By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life. 5 Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them.
How different are the paths of those who fear the LORD and walk in humility from those who are forward with a life full of snares and thorns.
The humble person who fears the LORD sees the thorns and snares and seeks to avoid them. While the forward actually seeks those things that would cause trouble in their life. (Thorns and snares are the consequences of your decisions and actions. The consequences can be immediate or long term even eternal.)
David was well aware of this precept and chose to avoid that which would hinder his relationship with the LORD.
Psalm 101:1 A Psalm of David. I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O LORD, will I sing. 2 I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. 3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me. 4 A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person.
Today, whether you are out and about or in within the walls of your home, endeavour to walk with the LORD in humility.
Remember, the devil is seeking to destroy you. 1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
Prepare your mind to seek the LORD. 1Peter 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: 15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

Keeping your soul far from the thorns and snares means drawing close to the LORD.
James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
There is one decision you can make that will keep you from the thorns and snares that have eternal consequences. By humility place your faith and trust in Jesus; He, through His word, will help you with the rest.
