Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs
Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Training up of children is so very important. If there is no training or little training from the right source, the child, who is a sponge when it comes to receiving information, will learn from another source.
Children are always learning. The questions we should be asking is what is being taught and who is doing the teaching?
God established a great principle and outlined a great method in teach our children.
Deuteronomy 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: 5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. 6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: 7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. 8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. 9 And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.
This type of teaching takes time and effort to do so, time and effort which most people have not prioritized and dedicated to their children. (When a person says they don’t have the time, it simply means that is not their priority.) Consequently parents leave the teaching to iPads and iPhones and multimedia, such as gaming programs and memes, of which they have no control.
Remember, everything on multimedia is programmed and scripted by another person. That person or persons present the script to your child and your child learns from whatever is given them. You have no control over the script. You may control with how much time they spend on their devices, but you are not watching what they are watching 24/7. That means someone else is training your child.
Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
The implication of Proverbs 22:6 is that you take personal responsibility to train up your child. That personal, one on one, training will be very important in their later years.
I personally have been involved in palliative care and have been at the bedside of both the lost and the saved before they passed on. On their deathbed, it seems they invariably return to their roots and reflected on their training as child.
Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
My friend, are you teaching your children and what are you teaching your children, or are you letting someone else teach your child?
Teach them about Jesus and His eternal salvation.
The choice is still yours,
