Morning Devotion: Read Exodus - The Curtains of the Tabernacle

Exodus 36:8  And every wise hearted man among them that wrought the work of the tabernacle made ten curtains of fine twined linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet: with cherubims of cunning work made he them. 9  The length of one curtain was twenty and eight cubits, and the breadth of one curtain four cubits: the curtains were all of one size. 10  And he coupled the five curtains one unto another: and the other five curtains he coupled one unto another. 11  And he made loops of blue on the edge of one curtain from the selvedge in the coupling: likewise he made in the uttermost side of another curtain, in the coupling of the second. 12  Fifty loops made he in one curtain, and fifty loops made he in the edge of the curtain which was in the coupling of the second: the loops held one curtain to another. 13  And he made fifty taches of gold, and coupled the curtains one unto another with the taches: so it became one tabernacle.

As you read on in Exodus chapter 36 you will find that there were more curtains made of goats hair and badger skins and ram skins. The skins were tanned and dyed according to God’s specifications.

Exodus 36:19  And he made a covering for the tent of rams' skins dyed red, and a covering of badgers' skins above that.

There were four layers of curtains. 1. The blue, purple and red curtain a picture of Christ. 2. On top of that was the goat’s hair which pictures Christ our sacrifice. 3. On top that was the ram’s skins died red; it pictures Christ as our sin offering. 4. On top of that was the badger skins. This curtain was a picture of Christ humanity. It was not beautiful but weather worn. Just as man is not beautiful by their sin nature.

There were ten curtains for each layer. The first layer of curtains was blue, purple and scarlet (red). Another layer was made of ram skins and another of badger skins.

There were fifty loops on each curtain offset so the other curtain with fifty loops would fit snuggly together like a dovetail cut of wood. They were held in place by the taches or clips of gold so the ten curtains became one covering. One tabernacle.

The beauty of this one tabernacle was the fact that it was the central place of worhship for all of Israel. This one place of worship was all a picture of our Lord Jesus Christ. From furniture inside the tabernacle to the outside curtains and the courtyard fence, everything was a picture of our Lord Jesus Christ.

One place, one God, one person to worship was the focus of the this glorious tabernacle.

My friend, who or what do you worship? We as born again believers worship God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus said in John 14:1  “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.”

John 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

One God manifested in three persons. 1John 5:7  For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 8  And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. 9  If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.

John 4:23  But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24  God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
