Morning Devotion: Read Exodus - Making the Court
Exodus 38:9 And he made the court: on the south side southward the hangings of the court were of fine twined linen, an hundred cubits: 10 Their pillars were twenty, and their brasen sockets twenty; the hooks of the pillars and their fillets were of silver. 11 And for the north side the hangings were an hundred cubits, their pillars were twenty, and their sockets of brass twenty; the hooks of the pillars and their fillets of silver. 12 And for the west side were hangings of fifty cubits, their pillars ten, and their sockets ten; the hooks of the pillars and their fillets of silver. 13 And for the east side eastward fifty cubits. 14 The hangings of the one side of the gate were fifteen cubits; their pillars three, and their sockets three. 15 And for the other side of the court gate, on this hand and that hand, were hangings of fifteen cubits; their pillars three, and their sockets three. 16 All the hangings of the court round about were of fine twined linen. 17 And the sockets for the pillars were of brass; the hooks of the pillars and their fillets of silver; and the overlaying of their chapiters of silver; and all the pillars of the court were filleted with silver. 18 And the hanging for the gate of the court was needlework, of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen: and twenty cubits was the length, and the height in the breadth was five cubits, answerable to the hangings of the court. 19 And their pillars were four, and their sockets of brass four; their hooks of silver, and the overlaying of their chapiters and their fillets of silver. 20 And all the pins of the tabernacle, and of the court round about, were of brass.
We have spoken about the articles and the furniture and the curtains, and coverings of the tabernacle when we read chapters twenty six and twenty seven of Exodus. Therefore we will move forward and take a closer look at the court yard and the fence around it.
The court yard was a rectangle of one hundred cubits long (about 150 feet) and fifty cubits wide (about 75 feet).
Each of the pillars (poles) supporting the linen hangings (the fence) around the courtyard were made of brass and the sockets (footings) were also made of brass. Brass represents judgment.
Near the top each pole were hooks that held the ropes which were attached to the brass pins (stakes) were made of silver.
On the top of each brass pillar was a chaptiter (cap on the pole) which was made of silver.
Running between and all along the tops of the poles was a fillet (a line that the curtains hung on) was made of silver.
The curtain was made of fine twined linen which was white as snow. Which represents the purity and righteousness of Christ Jesus.
At the front of the court yard was the one door; one way in and one way out.
That curtain of that one door was made of blue, purple, red and fine twined linen all woven together. It must have been beautiful. Jesus is the only way in to salvation.
Let’s get the picture, the pole and footing and stakes were made of brass. Brass pictures judgment. The tops of the poles, the hooks and the line running through the hooks and to the stakes were made of silver. Silver represents redemption.
The fence was made of fine twined linen which was pure white. The white pictures righteousness of God.
Isaiah 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
Here is the message; our salvation is based on the judgment of God in our Lord Christ Jesus which brings us to redemption and righteousness. You cannot have redemption; you cannot have righteousness without judgment.
Jesus payed the price of our judgment on the cross; each and every person who places their faith in Him will have redemption and righteousness.
Without Jesus there is no righteousness and no redemption.
Psalm 1:5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
It would be wonderful if everyone would trust Christ and be in the congregation of the righteous, the redeemed.
The choice is still yours,
