Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs
Proverbs 30:15 The horseleach hath two daughters, crying, Give, give. There are three things that are never satisfied, yea, four things say not, It is enough: 16 The grave; and the barren womb; the earth that is not filled with water; and the fire that saith not, It is enough.
As we draw to a close on this passage we see that there are two more things that are never satisfied and say it is not enough. The earth that is not filled with water and the fire says it is not enough and is never satisfied.
There is a cycle upon this earth that forbids the earth from ever being satisfied with water. God uses it as a metaphor for His character and His word.
Isaiah 55:9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. 10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: 11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
I find it amazing that even the cyclical event of the rain and snow returning and watering the earth brings glory to God declaring His handiwork.
Psalm 19:1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
Romans 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
The very creation of this world declares the glory of God. Evolution has no place in God’s glory for it is the conjure of man.
The other thing that is never satisfied is the fire. I have been on many camping trips where a camp fire was made. A camp fire is never satisfied, it always needs more wood or the fire goes out, consequently we were always searching for more wood to keep thew fire burning.
Proverbs 30:16 The grave; and the barren womb; the earth that is not filled with water; and the fire that saith not, It is enough.
There is another fire that is never satisfied, that is the fire of hell.
Proverbs 27:20 Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.
Isaiah 5:14 Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.
May I remind you, Jesus has the keys to death and hell not Peter as some religions will tell you. Read Matthew 16:18-19.
Jesus tells us this truth in Revelation 1:18 “I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.”
The great and wonderful truth is that Jesus wants to save every soul upon this earth. He wants every man, woman and child to be with Him in the glories of heaven.
2Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Isaiah 57:15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
Would you be that one who would in humility and contrition place you faith and trust in Jesus Christ to save your soul?
If you desire to be saved and experience the love from God through His Son Jesus Christ you may. Simply pray this prayer believing with all your heart.
“God I know I am a sinner in need of salvation. I now repent of my sin asking you to save me. Please come into my heart and save my soul for I cannot save myself. I now place my faith and trust in Jesus Christ my Lord and Saviour whom you have sent.”
Please let us know if you have made that decision.
The choice is still yours,
Pastor Cook
