Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs

Proverbs 30:18  There be three things which are too wonderful for me, yea, four which I know not: 19  The way of an eagle in the air; the way of a serpent upon a rock; the way of a ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a man with a maid. 20  Such is the way of an adulterous woman; she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness.

Agur, the writer of this proverb, is speaking from a personal point of view. He reveals some personal truths for us to bear in mind.

Along with him most of us can say we don’t understand the way of an eagle in the air. Apart from modern videos and science explaining the updraft and wind movement, along with wing expansion and tail movement, I could not explain such things. They are wonderful to me as well.

After spending time in the middle east, and after seeing many serpents sunning themselves on the rocks, I still cannot explain how they live and thrive in such arid places.

We, here in the Americas, many have heard of the Edmond Fitzgerald and her sinking in lake Superior November 10, 1975. Being the largest ship to have ever sunk in the lake, there remains many questions about what happened. No distress signal was ever heard from this great ship hauling taconite ore to iron mills in Detroit, Michigan. Her way on the sea was never really understood.

When I read about such things I am reminded of a wonderful hymn written by Daniel Whittle, entitled “I Know Whom I Have Believed”

I know not why God’s wondrous love to me He hath made known, nor why, unworthy, Christ in love Redeemed for His own. But “I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that Hs is able to keep that which I’ve committed Unto Him against that day.”

I know not how this saving faith to me He did impart, Nor hoe believing in His word Wrought peace within my heart. “But I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that Hs is able to keep that which I’ve committed Unto Him against that day.”

I know not how the Spirit moves, convincing men of sin, Revealing Jesus through the Word, creating faith with-in, in him. “ But I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that Hs is able to keep that which I’ve committed Unto Him against that day.”

My friend, we may not understand all these things, but we can believe by faith.

Hebrews 11:1  Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

If you desire to be saved and experience the love from God through His Son Jesus Christ you may. By faith, simply pray this prayer believing with all your heart.

“God I know I am a sinner in need of salvation. I now repent of my sin asking you to save me. Please come into my heart and save my soul for I cannot save myself. I now place my faith and trust in Jesus Christ my Lord and Saviour whom you have sent.”

Please let us know if you have made that decision.

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
