Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs
Proverbs 30:21 For three things the earth is disquieted, and for four which it cannot bear: 22 For a servant when he reigneth; and a fool when he is filled with meat; 23 For an odious woman when she is married; and an handmaid that is heir to her mistress.
As we read the above list, we must come to the conclusion that all four are appear to be those who are placed in positions that do not fit their character or demeanour.
For the servant when elevated often brings a harshness to his position. We see that in 2 Kings 16 when Zimri who in a drunken stupor destroyed an entire family.
The fool who reigns is clearly demonstrated with Haman in the book of Esther, who when elevated to a position of rank tried to destroy Mordecai and all the Jews of the land. He ended up being hanged on the very gallows e prepared for Mordecai.
Then we come the odious woman who is married causing hatred in the family.
O’DIOUS, means hateful; it expresses something slightly less than detestable and abominable; as an odious name; odious vice. All wickedness is odious. Causing hate; invidious; as, to utter odious truth.
Finally we see the handmaid who is heir to her mistress.
We see that all through the scriptures with Abraham and his failure to follow God’s promises.
Genesis 15:4 And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir. 5 And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be. 6 And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
The promised child was Isaac was first in the genealogy of the Lord Jesus Christ the Savour of the world. Read Matthew chapter one.
However, Abraham could not wait for God and a relationship with Hagar who then had Ishmael.
One, Isaac was of the promise and one Ishmael was not. As a result of Abraham’s impatience, the mistress of Sarah his wife has caused great consternation world wide even to this very day.
My friend, the great thing about the word of God is that it reveals salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Everyone, by faith, believing In Jesus can become a new creature.
2Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
The servant of sin can be changed to be a servant of Christ. The fool can become a person of wisdom in Christ Jesus. The Odious woman can become loving instead of hateful. The mistress can become freeborn.

Everything changes for the good in Christ Jesus.

By faith, simply pray this prayer believing with all your heart. "God I know I am a sinner in need of salvation. I now repent of my sin asking you to save me. Please come into my heart and save my soul for I cannot save myself. I now
place my faith and trust in Jesus Christ my Lord and Saviour whom you have sent."
