Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs

Proverbs 30:24  There be four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceeding wise: 25  The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer; 26  The conies are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks; 27  The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands; 28  The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings' palaces.

This third example is metaphorically joined to the whole body of believers, to those who are in the Lord Jesus Christ.

The bands of  locust move forward methodically in one common movement with purpose and without distraction.

I have seen these locust when lived in the middle east. They are huge creatures, some as large as 5 inches. They come from the ground, find each other, and move forward in their bands. They are driven by an innate force that binds them together.

We as believers are bound, not by an innate force as the salmon swimming upstream or the bear who hibernates, but by the Lord Jesus Christ. Every true believer has within them the Holy Spirit of God. Jesus is the ending force and the Holy Spirit is the driving force of each believer. And, the Word of God gives us the instruction by which we move.

The entire scenario concerning the locust speaks of unity. They move forward as a band. The believer and the church moves forward by the binding innate leading of the word of God and the Holy Spirit of God.

Jesus said in John 14:26  “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”

Did you see that? Jesus the living Word of God gives the written Word of God and the Holy Spirit guides us with the Word of God.

Jesus said in John 16:13  “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.”

If you are born again in Christ Jesus, you are part of the body or “the band” if you please.

Being filled with he Holy Spirit, which happens at salvation, you have that innate leading that drives the body.

The issue is this. Are you in the body? Are you living according to God’s Word.

There are many who claim to be in body but are not part of the body. There are many who claim to be filled with the Spirit but have never received the Spirit because they are not born again. Consequently the body, the church, suffers with lack of unity. The band is not what it is suppose to be.

Galatians 5:22  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23  Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24  And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25  If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

1John 1:7  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

If you desire to be saved and experience the love from God through His Son Jesus Christ you may.

By faith, simply pray this prayer believing with all your heart. "God I know I am a sinner in need of salvation. I now repent of my sin asking you to save me. Please come into my heart and save my soul for I cannot save myself. I now place my faith and trust in Jesus Christ my Lord and Saviour whom you have sent."

Please let us know if you have made that decision.

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
